    Sansa losing her wolf was harsh and even after the show I don’t think she will make it back to Winterfell permanently. It’s that line where Bran explains to his family that Sansa writes on behalf of the queen because she lost her wolf. And there is literally no way for it to come back.

    Also I love the other theory on Jon that he could actually the be the son of Ned and Ashara Dane theory as there almost just as much evidence they could of had a fling possibly gotten married and possibly Jon snow is actually the first true born son of Ned Stark

    You know, of all your pronunciations of names, “SEAR-say” always gets me… In fairness I said it as “SER-say” before the show had her name as “SER-sea”. Do you think a pronunciation guide would have gone amiss? I don’t know why more fantasy writers don’t try doing that…

    Ya IDK I can't help but think Caitlyn is the worse especially in rereading the books for me it just appears every dissension she makes has horrible consequences and I not entirely sure I even trust her at the very beginning of the story the letter she gets written in a secret code only her an her sister can decode or so she claims yet she never lets ned see the letter and burns it before anyone else could... Honestly most of what Caitlyn says and does seem suspicious...

    The scenes that destroyed me on the reread, is when Robb comes to visit Bran a final time before marching south the next morning, and they both spend the time together in silence while Robb is crying because he’s scared. And just how ignored Rickon goes by everyone in Winterfell, he’s constantly alone or with shaggy dog. And wrestling with his feelings of anger and abandonment when he’s far too young to comprehend what is going on around them.

      Ugh this is making me realize there was a cat scene I wish I had mentioned in this video! I literally shed tears over the scene where cat won’t leave brans side and then Robb comes in and says rickon needs you… *I* need you!” Such a heartbreaking but realistic scene!!

    Idk how you feel about audiobooks (I generally don't like them) but Roy Dotrice's reading of ASOIAF is amazing. Their decision to get a stage actor to read the story instead of just some "narrator" person was a great decision. I read the series probably ten times before I listened to the audiobooks and I still enjoyed the heck out of it. Highly recommended.

    It’s funny that so many people side with Jaime in the incoming clash against the zombie Catelyn while I’m one of the few who actually side with Catelyn. Did they forget that it wasn’t just Robb who died at the red wedding? It was Catelyn too. And with Roose saying “Jaime Lannister sends his regards” before deleting Robb would confirm to Catelyn that he’s a serial oathbreaker (like when he did Aerys) and of course, she’s gonna be super pissed about him. Same as people who chastised Sansa for being too cold to Tyrion even though Tyrion was the only Lannister who’s nice to her…which is a bare minimum. It seems like GRRM kinda conditioned the audience to have Lannisters bias here by keeping them alive and giving them sympathetic nuances as much as possible and made the audience feel ashamed to root for the Starks. Because what’s the point for rooting for the Starks when they’re gonna be killed brutally anyway. It’s better to root for the so-called “good” Lannisters (who have massive plot armor) and be mad at the Starks for not reciprocating their “kindness” (while ignoring the fact that the Starks don’t owe them any forgiveness, considering that the Lannisters are responsible and benefit in the death and destruction of the Starks in the first place). Sorry for the rant. But I feel no shame rooting for the good guys, even though they died fast. My top 5 favorite characters have zero Lannister.

    It's rumored that Winds of Winter is coming out at the end of the year. George RR Martin is apparently holding off the announcement in agreement with HBO while House of the Dragon is currently on air so as not to steal it's thunder. It's supposedly being announced after season 2 of House of the Dragon ends. There's a lot things happening behind the scenes right now that went down before Dance of Dragons came out.

    People who think N+A=J instead of R+L=J believe, to be brief and from what I remember, Ned married Ashara before the war. They spent a few months together. Once it began, to secure the aid of Riverlands Cat's father forced Ned to marry her. Ned was really angry after talking with him. The reason Ned would've kept who Jon's mom is a secret is because Jon isn't a bastard. All of his siblings would be though because Ashara is thought to be still alive thus his marriage to Cat is void.

I think you've touched on some of my favourite themes being Loss of identity, Honour, and the role of magic in the world! I absolutely adore how religion is descried too, how Ned built a little Sept for Cat in Winterfell, how Robert says the gods punish him for his bad choices. I think it's a difference between telling someone that a charcter is religious, and showing how they act and think are affected by their religious views. Lovely video, enjoy the other books!

    Regarding the direwolves and the Starks’ identities, I think there is a significance to Arya’s wolf still living, especially with regards to her wolf dreams and latent warg powers. Whereas Lady is truly dead and Sansa is alone, Nymeria is an inseparable part of Arya’s identity. I think this will be a point of conflict as she strives to become “no one.”

    One of my favourite things picking up on a re-read was the pyre scene with Drogo being foreshadowed by Dany's conversation with her handmaidens about the origin of dragons in Daenerys III, and the fact that her and Drogo start calling each other 'Moon of my life' and 'Sun and stars' after that (not as a result of that conversation of course). Moon (Dany) comes close the blazing Sun (Drogo), and what happens? Eggs (Moon, dixit Doreah) break and dragons come out.

I think that the prologue of WoW is regarding Robb’s wife and the question regarding Robb’s legacy, lack of son and Jon being his heir, and the epilogue will be confirming Jon’s parentage - both having the theme of succession and heritage

    When Robb receives Sansa's letter asking him to go to King's Landing and bend the knee, he says something on the line of "what's wrong with this girl?," and Bran repplies "She lost her wolf." It always stuck with me Bran's words, it was like she had lost her North identity. Of course, she was a hostage, she had to write what she was bid and in her innocence (she-s 11), she thought she was doing the right thing

      I always imagined Sansa being the only one to not exhibit warg abilities due to having lost Lady so early on. She really ends up feeling like the least Stark out of all of them, even less than her mother. As poorly executed as it was in the show, I was eager to see Sansa going back to the North and embrace more strongly her first man, northerner, Stark identity. I hope we get something similar in tWoW.

    I know that a lot of people say that Arya is losing her identity. I just don't see it that way. The death list is so personal to Arya and murdering Dareon is all about her identity as a Stark. The way Sansa commits to the Alayne character completely contrast the way Arya uses and discards different identities.

    • @Bookborn
      @Bookborn 14 часов назад

      The circumstances are different but I think it’s more just on display how Arya and Sansa’s personalities are different. Sansa has always been the child to willingly play a role, and follow the rules. It’s no different now. Arya has always gone head first into things but also been rebellious. This is also reflected in her going hard in on this difficult new life but also refusing to give up parts of her (like needle or her grudges) that she can’t bear to leave behind. So I feel they are pretty related overall.

    Upon rereading the fever dream did anything else stand out to you? For me it was only Ned's companions are wraiths. i feel like Jon's parentage being rheagar and Lyanna is 100% true but also a distraction, that redirects from another major twist that is coming hinted at by the weird reactions of the Dayne's to the event of losing two children directly following the events and only certain people been seen as dead in the dream.

    • @Fenix-lr6ez
      @Fenix-lr6ez 14 часов назад

      I think Rhaegar and Lyanna being Jon's parents is the major twist, but I agree there is something going on with the Daynes. Even if you return Dawn to Starfall and we assume Ashara isn't dead, Ned still killed Arthur, so it makes no sense to name your heir after him (I do think Arthur's 100% dead). I could see Arthur going to Starfall with Ned, Howland and little Jon to explain the situation and then commit suicide or something and Ashara going somewhere (maybe Howland), really the only explanation I see to the Daynes holding Ned on such high regard.

      @@Fenix-lr6ez There's definitely something there. Also, the whole deal in Barristan's mind about a "Stark having dishonored Ashara".

    1:06 That's the ASOIAF effect, it has no cure unfortunately. There are a couple of rumors that TWOW is finished and coming soon, we had those before but I chose to believe this time

      There seems to be a LOT of smoke about it so I’m convinced there is a fire…

    All the tourney of the Hand is my favorite part, tons of foreshadowing there too. Hope we get a CoK reread video too, I really liked this one ✨
